Delete your SharePlay account

This page explains how to delete your SharePlay account and the data linked to it. SharePlay is developed by SharePlay Interactive LLC. You can request deletion from the SharePlay app, from the website, or by email if you can no longer sign in.

How to request deletion

In the SharePlay app

  1. Open the SharePlay app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings and tap Delete My Account.
  3. Confirm with your password, or with the 6-digit code we email you if you sign in with Google or Discord, then type DELETE.

On the web

  1. Sign in at www.shareplay.tv.
  2. Open Settings. You land on the Profile tab.
  3. Under Disable or Delete your SharePlay Account, select Delete My Account.
  4. Confirm with your password, or with the 6-digit code we email you if you sign in with Google or Discord, then type DELETE.

If you cannot sign in

  1. Email privacy@shareplay.tv from the email address on your account.
  2. Tell us your PlayTag and that you want your account deleted.
  3. We only act on requests sent from the account's own email address.

The 30-day grace period

  • Your account is deactivated as soon as you confirm, and we email you a confirmation. It is permanently deleted after 30 days.
  • Changed your mind? Sign back in within 30 days and the deletion is cancelled automatically.
  • After 30 days the deletion cannot be undone.
  • Deletion cannot start while you have a payout request pending, or while your account is suspended.

Cancel your subscriptions first

  • Deleting your account does not by itself stop billing. Cancel any paid subscription before you request deletion.
  • Subscriptions bought on the web: cancel them on www.shareplay.tv before you delete your account.
  • Subscriptions bought in the Android app are billed by Google Play and must be cancelled in Google Play.

What is deleted

  • Your profile: email address, password, phone number, profile picture, banner and stream key are erased and replaced with anonymous placeholders.
  • Your PlayTag is removed from your account and reserved, so no one else can register it.
  • Two-factor authentication and recovery codes are removed, API tokens are revoked, and any Sign in with Apple link is revoked.
  • Your follows, in both directions: the channels you follow and the people who follow you.
  • Your settings, quests and stream records.
  • Your viewing and recommendation history used to personalise SharePlay.

What you lose

  • PlayCoins, XP and other virtual items are forfeited when your account is deleted. Your balances are set to zero. They are not refunded or paid out.
  • Promotional PlayCoins are forfeited.

What is kept, and why

  • Purchase, subscription and payment records are kept for tax and accounting compliance, for as long as the law requires. They are linked only to your anonymised account.
  • A security record of your deletion request is kept to protect against unauthorised deletions.
  • Chat messages you sent, and your VODs and Plays, are not erased automatically. Your VODs and Plays stop appearing in SharePlay's feeds. To have them erased, email privacy@shareplay.tv.
